    Hi Peeps,

Just a friendly warning to all webmasters and owners of affiliate programs.

Not so long ago we had an attempt at fraud on our affiliate scheme on our hair loss and herbal health web site, it ended up costing us several hundred pounds.

There was an application made from the web master / admin/ owner or w w w.goldenplatinum. net

His web site has changed now but still has links to web site affiliate programs.

    Here is the scam:
Within a few days of setting the account live we had several orders, the first ones were small orders but EVERY order was a complete match from the credit card companies, including, address, phone numbers. We had no reason to suspect anything at this time so all orders were processed and sent out.

About 1 week later the orders increased, a mixture of high value goods, a mixture of goods that were unusual to have ordered together. Some orders were for £250 ($500ish) at first it was not noticed and some of the orders were shipped out, as above, after all, the cardholders details were returned as a full match and we were sending the products to the card holders address. Within 14 days he had earn't about £300 in commission, unusually high so we put his account on hold whilst we took a closer look.

Within days we had our first chargeback from the bank, a referral from www . goldenplatinum . net.

Over the next few weeks we were faced with lots of chargebacks and every transaction made from golden platinum turned out to be fraud.

So, the scam is to place orders with customers details that look legit and come back clear so the shops/website/order will all be cleared and sent.

If we had not been sus of him we would have paid out the £300 in commission and this is how he would have made money from us.
    Not the actual transactions.
We ended up losing money as we were charged about £25 per chargeback, we managed to contact some of the customers details,. get the products back and refund the money but other card holders refused to return the goods, filed a chargeback and we lost out 2 times.

Upon contacting him the owner of the domain, he pretended not to be the one running the site and denied all knowledge of it.

If anyone would like any more information PM

    thanks

    chalky

This is an old thread. I think members should distinguish between the old and new owner. Thread Closed
