Affiliate Programs

    Hello,

I started a blog and wanted to know if there are any affiliate programs anyone would recommend.

My concern is that I don't want to give out my SSN on the internet. Are there are any good programs that don't require a SSN? Giving out my SSN is not worth the possible $25 a month that I'll make from my blog.

Thanks for reading and any suggestions.
    Jack

All affiliate programs that I know of require your SSN before they issue your first payment to you.

    Hello,

Are there any other options such as an "EIN", Employer Identification Number?

I've heard that you can sign up for one at the IRS government website. Can I substitute an EIN for an SSN?

    Thanks,
    Jack

    Hello,

Thanks for the information. Will I need a business license from my town or state as an affiliate marketer in the United States?

    Thanks,
    Jack

I got one. I'm not positive if it's required or not, but I wanted to keep business stuff separated from personal things.

    Hello,

Thanks for the reply. I only have a blog, will I need to register my business license as as sole proprietor, LLC, or a corporation?

    Thanks,
    Jack

    Hi Jack,

If you have a Federal Tax I.D. that should be fine as well.

Best of luck with the blog:)

    Hello,

If I sign up for an EIN or a Tax ID at the government website, what kinds of questions will they ask? Do I tell them I am a professional blogger or an affiliate marketer?

    Thanks,
    Jack

Jack, just call yourself a publisher and avoid the moniker "affiliate marketer". With the New York sales tax issue I wouldn't identify myself as an "affiliate marketer" in case other states follow suit.

You don't need a business license but Jeremy Palmer recommends one. He has a seminar on that information.

If you are a US citizen you are required by both in-house programs and networks to provide either a SSN or EIN. We send 1099's at the end of the year as required by the IRS.
