Hi masters!! I just wanted to ask? how did you start? 1. You thought of a product or topic created a website that promotes it, then looked for affiliate programs for it and applied it. OR 2. You looked for affiliate programs that has a good scheme and created a website to promote the programs product or topic? Last question is: Which do you think works better? Thank you for your replies!
I want to try CJ however how can i get a list of their merchants or products that i can promote for? or create for... would you know? thanks!
point 2 works for me. because then i would be able to choose the right domain name and nice template for it.
Choose a subject/topic that you like and are expert in. Find out if it is profitable, and then only, search for affiliate programs. It's not the only way, but when you start, you want to take it easy and not spread yourself. Focus on one project at a time.
I'm doing it this way: Look in CJ, Look at Amazon and go to a few web pages that show most searched terms. If you have a Google Adsense Account, use the Google tools to see what's hot and how it fluctuated during the year (The 'tools' section in Adwords (!) let's you do a lot of good research) Once you have found a topic that seems to be hot all year long and that you like, get the domain name - optimize for keywords, but don't hit for the BIG SINGLE KEYWORD, rather use a two or three word term that you foudn to be searched enough to make ti worhtwhile. I try to pack the single keyword and maybe a good two term into the same: Say you are using shoes as the main keyword, want mens shoes, and black mens shoes is the term you target: blackmenshoeshop.com would be a good name. (Just checked, it's actually available! ) Then you build a nice site around the theme, add a few articles, maybe find stories and newsbits online, cutio facts about black mens shoes and mens shoes in general, start a blog on black mens shoes. Once youre picked up ba Google, MSN and Yahoo, you start adding a few affiliate links, maybe Adsense, and keep on adding pages to the site and the blog. Don't spam, you'll get kicked in the butt real fast these days and loose your SE listings..... Then start thinking outside the box and add items that are only remotely linked to black mens shoes, like books that have the name shoe in them, downloadable audio books with the same etc. As you traffic will grow and your site will take off. This all only works if you like the topic or can at least identfy with it. P.S: If you're looking for audio books on any tpoic: http://BigMoneyWithAudioBooks.com/blog
