Affiliate or My own webhost?

    Hi all!

I have built sites for people that I know around my town and lately, I have been getting a lot more people by word of mouth only. My skills aren't the greatest but if I can't handle it, I use people on DP.

With this being said, I have thought about starting my own web hosting website like the ones seen for sale on DP. Is this the same as affiliate, but you have your own website? Whereas affiliate programs give out a link which gives you credit?

Also, which would be the best way to go? I know CJ with Host Gator pays more than straight up affiliate with Host Gator, or at least that is what I have read.

I want to get into the online consultation business and offer many different things to clients, this being one of them, since my server is now almost full from all of these friends websites. I plan on selling each one their own host (Single domain server).

Any ideas, comments, suggestions, will be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

Not exactly, If you have a server or VPS you sell your own hosting as you own the server but if you get a affiliate off hostgator then your selling their hosting, either way you will require to have your own website.

Correct. But when I first got into websites, I used a guys hosting that had ffmpeg and it would seem as if he owned the hosting, but he didn't. Just a reseller. So affiliate would be just clicking on a link. Reseller would have a website which cpanel could be accessed, but it would actually be a web host company. Maybe that is called VPS? Sorry for the noob questions ;) Thanks for the answer. I appreciate your time!

What is the payout of hostgator? From lowest to highest you've seen?

Jason, 5-6 sales per month, generating residual income? Or is that for online the first month they sign up?

If you really are sending 5 to 6 sales, you better switch to webhsotingpad or hostgator affiliates because they will pay you $60+ / sale.
