Affiliate or AdSense

Let's suppose you have found a profitable micro niche. You start developing site and selling stuff. After some time you have conversion about 1% but in general no big bucks.

    My question is the following:
Does it make sense to add AdSense to this affiliate site?

What works well or it depends on the niche:
    1. Pure affiliate site
    2. Pure AdSense site
    3. Mixed affiliate/AdSense

    Any experience or advice?

I find adsense is obviously a lot easier but with affiliate products you can "recommended" it to the reader through a review or whatever

Never mix Adsense with your affiliate site. The only place you want your potential customers to go is to your affiliate sales page.

Look at it this way. You have to work to get traffic to your site, regardless of wether or not it is an affiliate site or Adsense site. Still the same amount of work. So why fool around with a couple of cents when you can make more with sales from the affiliate product?

Find out what is wrong with your site or your traffic methods and fix it. Throwing Adsense on there isn't going to help;)

I say mix. Just be careful to not let adsense take away from the profits of your affiliate links

I will actually try on the third option - Mixed affiliate/AdSense
Then compare the affiliate and adsense earning. If one of them are much better than another, then i will remove the one with low earning. However, if the earning is very close, then i will maintain "mixed affiliate&adsense)

I go or the third option.
There is no guarantee that all clicks on affiliates turn to leads. But all clicks on adsense definitely fetch you some bucks. It major depends on the target audience you reach while advertising and their purchasing power.
    So, market it wise.

I would say it depends on how much you expect to get with adsense. If you are only getting 20 cent clicks when you can make a $50 affiliate commission, then it's probably not worth it.

It really depends on the niche.

If you are already doing OK with affiliate programs - normally you will make more than you would with Adsense. (If it's a good converting program.)

Since Adsense takes them off your page - if you REALLY want to add Adsense to a page that is already earning affiliate commission, I'd put Adsense at the bottom of page so if they don't click any affiliate links you could have a last ditch chance of getting some click revenue.

I agree, some niches do well with affiliates, while others will do better with AdSense.

If you want to sell products as an affiliate, don't add AdSense to that site. It should be fully concentrated on getting people to buy things.

Imo the adsense can take away potential buyers. They might leave your page faster than you can sell them anything.

It depends upon lot of factors.
If you are sure that the niche is not converting anymore, then get Adsense.

Personally, I would never add adsense to a site where I'm trying to push affiliate stuff. As stated before adsense offers the person somewhere to click off your site instead of through to your affiliate link, so they may click an adsense link and buy through that instead of through you. Is the problem people not clicking your link or are they not buying once they click your link?

If you are trying to sell something then adsense will definitely wont work with it but if you have something like CPA offers than adsense will do well , I mean both CPA and adsense would work. :)

Never ever mix adsense with affiliate...mainly because of the reason that was already mentioned....with affiliate the only link you want visitors is the one that takes them to your affiliate sales page.

    I would actually suggest both.

Get a good site with loads of good content.

    Start a good backlinking campaign.

Monetize your site with targeted Cpa, clickbank,
and other. Dont over do it

    Cheers

    Thanks for your comments.
What I did is the following (this applies to a recently started micro niche Amazon affiliate website):

    1. I determine visitor's country according to IP address
    2. I generate localized Amazon affiliate links (.com, .co.uk, .de, .fr, and .ca) to maximize conversion according to the country and relevant Amazon site
    3. If the country is not USA (majority of conversions) I serve also AdSense

It seems that this is a pretty good combination to maximize income.
