MoreNiche is doing a great job keeping up with the recession. They are offering discounts and great tips on their blog, forum and affiliate interface.

I'd like to quote a few for everyone to use.

It is all a question of having the right tools, and knowing how to utilise your merchantâ€™s products to your advantage. More importantly, you need to know the limits of your product and all the signs to look out for.

To lend a helping hand, here is a quick outline of what to look out:

* Product: depending on which market niche you choose to present, will depend on how much the current financial climate affects it.

* Sales: as we mentioned before, during times like these many consumers will choose to conserve their money, in order to stabilise their finances. But you can pre-empt this decision and safeguard your sales.

* The Pitch: here is where the big sell comes in, so it is important that you believe in the strength and quality of your product. If consumers can sense doubt in you, this doubt will pass onto them. So make sure you promote a product that you strongly believe in; that you know is of the highest quality and will be of a genuine asset to consumers.

It's interesting that they started talking about recession marketing since July, when its negative effects weren't so obvious.

You see, there are certain things you can do to minimize your fall in sales during a recession. The first is to shift your marketing focus on to things that help a customer during a recession.

If the product you promote has a payment plan, make sure you present it to your surfers as a way to get the product without breaking the bank.

If the product has a guarantee, make sure you push it.

When money is tight people are far more likely to buy if itâ€™s a no risk purchase. Similarly if you have a discount code for a product make sure you tell your surfers what it is and help them find the funds for a purchase.

Stress the quality of products you promote, when cash is tight people do not want to have to buy something and then replace it again because it has broken.

Even if it means a little more people will be prepared to pay for something that lasts longer.

These are just some of things you can do to help prevent against your sales slowing during a recession.

However, is it really all doom and gloom for affiliate marketing?

The answer is noâ€¦..yesâ€¦well maybe! The truth is, there hasnâ€™t been a major economic downturn since the rise of the Internet and affiliate marketing. No one knows how online marketing will be effected and which online industries will be hit the hardest.

I agree about the company being supportive. They have great tools and guides. Free templates for landing pages. Free articles to use for site content. And a heck of a lot more
