Affiliate Marketing - Newbie

I am a newbie to the affiliate marketing space. I've applied for a few affiliate marketing programs but have generally not been accepted. Usually told that my *experience* is not enough to qualify for the program.

For all the affiliate experts out there, my question is, how do I jump start into this space.
    - what is needed to be viewed attractive for affiliate programs?
    - what are good conversion rates for affiliate marketing pages?

any other tips would help. i have quite a bit of experience in the SEM space with high quality and conversion on campaigns from the major search engines.

    thanks everyone!

Create a niche blog, write 5 articles, list that site as your main site when applying and be vague about your traffic.

Also, call your AM before they call you, it helps alot, believe me.

    you will get accepted ;)

If you're having problems with creating content-articles, maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to hire a freelancer. English speaking indian perhaps:) and let him do the heawy lifting...writing.
