I think the biggest problem with affiliate marketing is the affiliates are becoming known as the "used car salesmen" of the internet. It seems everyone who has a computer thinks they can be an affiliate marketer. Most affiliate marketers today don't know their asses from their elbows about affiliate marketing....not to mention they have no clue about the products they are trying to sell. They just see $$$$ in their dreams and think they can do it, too. Many more will tell you anything or do anything to make a buck. Not only is the general public less trusting of affiliate marketers today, but most affiliate marketers don't even trust other affiliate marketers. Hey, just look at the crap in the affiliate marketing forum here on DP. That should give you a clue why affiliate marketing is in the state it is. Jim
There are many more people taking part in affiliate marketing, but that doesn't mean it is dead and it is far from it. All it means if much more competition.
DP can be extremely helpful for newcomers if they know where to look and are ready to put in the effort though
Affiliate marketing is living and laughing at newbies. C'mon you can't believe that it's dying or some other bullshit. More and more people use the internet every day, and more and more people buy things on the internet. The fact that there are more affiliates doesn't mean that this kind of business is dead. This is just the beginning.
Affiliate marketing is one of the fastest growing marketing type these days. It has been started in Russia, Japan and some other Asian countries.
Affiliate marketing is not dead; in fact, if anything, it is rising. But you probably mean fewer people making really huge sums because there are many more people promoting the products.
I would say I am one of the failed person in affiliate marketing, I am with commision junction have 3,903,619 Impressions, 10,847 clicks in a month earned only 53 $. I don't believe in Affiliate Programmes
I agree with you, affiliate marketing is not dead. On the contrary, it’s absolutely booming. It’s just changed and we need to change with it.
if you don't make money with CPS then you can give a try with CPA offers but need to focus on your traffic. which type of traffic you have? and which type of offers are you promoting? right offers+right traffic=$$$ (this is only key of success in IM)
Affiliate marketing has been around for years and still will be in the future. Too many high profile businesses have the affiliate as their business model. The only issue is the amount of BS that gets booted around by people who have no clue. This then wreaks it for the rest of us. Customers get then immune to that technique and then another one pops up. The cycle continues until we figure out that affiliate marketing should be classed as affiliate business and we should then treat it as a business rather than a get-rich-quick scheme.
I don't think it will ever be dead. You need to build a customer list, and build a relationship with them. If they trust you, then it works. Just don't bombard them with crap!
SD12 is perfectly correct. But don't you find that "building a customer list" is not taken as seriously as it should? It is like build a list and see how many emails full of affiliate junk you can send to it.
It's far from dead but this thread was.. Well at least it was dead before the user with.. "affiliate marketing" sig links bumped the 2 year thread.
Affiliate Marketing takes time, its now no more an easy game and mostly reserved only for established marketers
Affiliate marketing can only be dead if we stop surfing the net. As far as internet is concerned and people log in to it, affiliate marketing cannot die.
