Affiliate Marketing - Follow My Success or Failure....(this thread) 04/13/2009 Greetings Affiliate Marketers, About me: I work in the medical billing field as a top collections manager for the company I work for. I currently earn roughly around $110k/year. Ok, that is enough about me Some may even ask, why do you want to do affiliate marketing? so the only thing that I can say is, it is in my blood, and once affiliate marketing is in your blood, thats pretty much it. I have never been all too serious about affiliate marketing; I have done it somewhat in the past, and never worked out; I think now I would like to be more serious about getting it going, so this is why I ask you guys to follow along, and as affiliate marketing family, we will see where I end up... Please Bookmark this thread: If you wish to follow my affiliate marketing success or failure, please feel free to subscribe or bookmark this thread for future reference. You surely will have nothing to loose by following along. I do hope that over time, we will all learn something, either from my own mistakes, or from yours. I also hope that some of you experts will also offer your success tips as we move along in the affiliate marketing process, so that we all can benefit from each other in this tough affiliate marketing world. Since I work almost 6 days per work, this process will be very long. I am not going to sit here and expect instant riches like most do when they start. I have been looking at a few threads similar to this one. I will not be the guy that posts "$60,000 in 10 months" and personally, I do not think this is a realistic goal, even for a FULL-TIME affiliate marketer (starting out), nor will I place a time-limit on my success, and for those that place time limits on your success, I am betting you will fall well below your expectations, then most of us fail or give up way before we should, in reality, there is not "get rich over-night" unless it is a "SCAM" I only have two domains, so I am not going to be one of those guys that start off with like 10 domains, 10 landing pages, and so forth. my time is very limited, and I do not have time for all that BS testing that goes along with affiliate marketing. If I find along the way that something is not working, then I can just focus on tweaking this or that, this way I will not have to worry about 10-20 domains. If it works out, then I can always add more domains, I have a nice stock pile of domains not in service. I am also going to be doing something different from what I have been seeing in some of those similar threads like this one. Some guys are instantly jumping in with their products or whatever, they upload tons of articles, and see few returns. I am not pressed for money, so I will not really be going in this direction in the start, so instead of pushing articles for products, my goal is just to push articles just to get my domain out there, so people will know my domain when they see it, then whey they see that I have been around when they do see a product, then they would think "I know this guy, i want to buy from him" Besides, starting this journey, I do not have any particular products in mind right now, but that does not mean that I would not add any, so I find something I like, then I would surely add it. I have not decided in which way I will go into affiliate marketing. I do know that some of you like CB, some of you like CJ or other affiliate sites. Some say CB works, others say it is a crap site for digital products. some say they are making $4k/mo as an affiliate marketer, best of luck to you, but that does not help others out by bragging on what you make, so keep your $4k/mo. I am here to help the best way possible regardless of my success or failure, and we will all learn something out of this process, together! In my next few posts; I will be talking about my investment, and what I have done so far leading up to this post. I may not post every single day as these will be a very slow process. Please feel free to ask questions. I am in the same boat that alot of you guys are in, and we surely all want to succeed at affiliate marekting. We are just barely getting started; if you like this thread thus far, please feel free to join. I would love to hear your comments and questions. Thank-You Have a great day.
update: Ok, I am now parked at the door of enzinearticles...I do not know much about them, and I surely did not know about the limit of 10 articles you can submit. I am at a dead stop...does this mean, I can no longer submit articles until I start paying, why do they limit 10 articles... any ideas on this? I could also use your thoughts on setting up a newsletter to capture emails...The newsletter software is made by PG Newsletter, it is a full featured newsletter, and looks very promising. It also costs around $200. The newsletter software is full service newsletter, meaning I could start my own newsletter service, that is fine, it could be useful, but I am more into just setting up a newsletter, so in the long run, this software could actually serve as a newsletter, and a newsletter service, even if it is just a small service, maybe to offset some affiliate marketing costs I am running into....what do you guys think? If I were to setup a newsletter, who would join? I am not here to try and sell you something, and no oblication is implied either, you may receive free offers, articles, ebooks, scripts, and from time to time current info on the next product or service, and of course anyone can unsubscribe at anytime, so it would be double opt-in, as you would have to confirm your email to be included on the mailing list. So the thought is at this moment, what do i do now that I am stuck at ezinearticles and if I should setup the newsletter to capture some emails by offering free/paid products/services. Your comments are always welcome....
ezines.com is not a must and you can get the same effect by submitting your articles to somewhere else ! Yes, you will need to work harder, but is that's the point ? Internet is huge and not everyone knows about these sites. There are tons of workarounds - just turn on your imaginary ( that's the key to success ).
I hear they are the best maybe compared to some deep down directory that few people tend to see. If i post my articles on other crap sites, then someone else could copy them, then turn around and submit them to ezinearticles, I would rather start at the top and once they are approved then work my way downward to other sites...my time is limited to begin with, so i would rather not post on the bottom sites, then see some of my articles posted on the top sites, with me not the one doing the posting. I started submitting articles to ezine on 3/30/09 - some of them have been rejected for various reasons, so since, I have corrected them, and resubmitted them. I just got another reject, I made the correction and resubmitted, seeing that it does take time. You surely want to make your corrections as soon as possible, and currently I have 10 articles in review, and I suspect a few more articles will be rejected, and I will end up resubmitting those also..it seems like this is a back, and forth game or something...I will sooner or later catch on, and hope to get less rejections. What do you guys think about blog posting? I am currently paying someone to post content on my blog. he is doing a great job to say the least, but he is not cheap at all. I guess what I am paying him, I could be using to purchase articles. Like I said, he is not cheap, but he is doing a great job on actually adding blog comments, so I am not sure if this will actually pay off in the long run or not, but it is fresh unique content that he is posting. I am just not sure at this point. update: one article has just been approved by enzinearticles...how exciting one article has a general error, so therefore, I will run and resubmit the article, at at this time, I have one live article...sweet...
with e-zine you have to become an expert article writer all you have to do is get 10 approved before they will allow you to submit more.
@Erikj - It is just a waiting game now... @Vaness - no problem, hope you enjoy. If you guys have any feedback thus far, I would love to hear from you.
I post about 10 articles a week at ezine and get great responses from them. Once you learn their submission guidelines, you'll get less and less rejected. I don't post my articles anywhere else... not sure what others do but it works very well for me and my entire livelyhood is based upon what I earn from my sites.
As someone also a noob in internet marketing, it is quite refreshing reading a journey towards success on an honest-to-goodness fashion. It always irritate me to find people just hyping and exaggerating their so-called success. I will be be following your journey in affiliate marketing as I am sure I will learning a lot of things from you. I hope you have your Twitter account for easy broadcast of your developments.
I looked at your signature and you are advertising SEOArticleRewriter.com. Does it really work? The most popular rewriter WordFlood cost much and I think I could not afford it. But this one is only $12 -- very affordable one. Please give me your review on the quality of this software...
update: Thanks for you comments everyone, I really appreciate them... I do not have good news tonight, my father has just passed away, so therefore, I will be planning a long trip, so I will not be updating for the next week or so, at least until I return. I was told he did not suffer, it is always good to know when a loved one does not suffer when they pass on... maybe you guys will keep this thread going by posting your experiences so that everyone can learn from our own mistakes... Thank-you for all your comments... I will leave in tears... I will soon return.... God Bless.
