Affiliate LInks in SIG???

I've noticed lately that a ton of newbies (and some others) on the boards have been placing affiliate links in their sig. I vaguely remember someone saying that was against TOS awhile back, but I don't see anything against this in TOS right now.

Was this a recent change?


Personally I find it to somewhat shady and annoying. I'm totally down with posts where someone provides a great review or advice and then openly let's people know if a link they've used is an affiliate link...but having them in a sig with no warning just reeks of desperation. I'm not here to slam anyone in particular here I just find it surprising. In in a way it kinds brings down the level of quality/integrity of DP for me.



Notice I said *for me*. Maybe most folks don't care and I'm just being a party pooper.

 

Even in posts people are doing it, for Chitika.

 

You find affiliate links more annoying than Nintendo links?

I don't personally care what people put there but I'd prefer to see limitations on font size and color, smilies, and that crap. Some of the sigs here now are just blatantly glaring and pathetically ugly.

 

I told you to stop making fun of me. I know that was a hidden message!

I must have had it backwards then. Grumph....still think folks should list a disclaimer at least.
