Hello. I recently got an infraction. Here is what the message said:
    "
Reason: Post / PM / Visitor Message Spamming
    -------
Quit spamming affiliate links in PMs.
    "

Now I know you're not allowed to spam affiliate links, and I was not doing so.

I had a thread in Services offering 3$ and telling people to message me if they were interested. Only after they messaged me telling me that they were interested did I reply giving them instructions, which had the link in it.

So, is my infraction a misunderstanding, or is there an actual rule that you can't hire people to sign up under your referral?

    Thanks!

Affiliate links in PM are the same as a public post as far as infractions are concerned.

So do I have to use another website if I want to hire people?

If it requires you to use affiliate links to do so, yes.

    Alright, thanks.

Now, would it be acceptable if I didn't put an affiliate link in the PM but sent them to a website of mine with information about what I wanted them to do, or is that still against the rules?

Unless the only purpose is to direct them to an affiliate link. As per the rules, ANY active promotion of affiliate links is not allowed here via post or PM. That includes directing them to another landing page just to present the affiliate link.
