Consider these scenarios: - Your affiliate website get's hacked without you noticing it. The hacker only changes some of your affiliate ids in your cj-links to his own cj account. He gets your commissions, I reckon? If you detect the hacking, will you get your money back with the help of cj? - Accidently you change the affiliate id of your own cj-links to someone elses account (or an invalid account). Will cj help? Someone experienced a situation like this? Can these things happen?
CJ is too big and wouldn't help you do such a thing. You need to be proactive about your links, most networks won't do a thing but say "Sorry, that really sucks".
Affiliate networks don't pay? Only you have to suffer? What in the world are you talking about? Extremely unlikely. I've seen 2 large affiliates whose employees changed the affiliate's PID to their own. Neither of these were related to hacking - it was an employee charged with maintaining a site who registered for their own account & placed their links instead. In these 2 cases, both affiliates threatened legal action against their employees and CJ did help out in making sure that all commissions that were wrongly paid to the rogue employees got instead bonused to the rightful affiliate. If you accidentally enter the wrong code though, CJ won't do anything. That's why they give you code to copy/paste.
Can you report the hacker to CJ at least? Let them know that the person with this affiliate number hacked your website and replaced your links with theirs?
There is nothing you can do about this and CJ won't give you the time of day for assistance.Best to setup your redirects to track all of your clicks and where your referrals are going to and from. a little more work but if you don't like getting ripped off, it's essential.
I still do not understand how can anyone hack your website. I mean, wouldn't they have to get to the server (your website provider's server that is) to change the links there? I just read that hackers can put their own links instead of AdSense links, but then again I am wondering how can anyone do this without getting to your website's account. Can anyone enlighten me on how it happens? Thanks.
Websites are rarely (almost never) individually hacked, especially not for something like this. Most hacks are mass-hacks to exploit vulnerable scripts & just replace index pages (or host porn). I wouldn't worry about this, I've never seen it happen.
Your only worry is whether you get your check paid on time. The rest is not worth your time to think about. Too stress? Catch a show.
I never had experienced like this, but I assume they might help you if you can provide them with information and proof on that hack activity. Otherwise, you won't be paid and you cannot blame CJ since this is not their fault.
CJ is not responsible for such security problem. If there is a hacker who can get your info, its probably because of the leak in your own security system. Maybe you need to install some anti-hacker tools.
