Do most affiliate programs/companies allow the use of google adwords to promote their products? Is it a widely used method of affiliate income?

The question is really, does Google allow affiliates? They have really been claming down on affiliates advertising because you can't just send a click from an ad to a redirect with your affiliate code, you also can't use most of the copy they give you on your website because then it will be seen as a mirror or duplicate site and then you'll get slapped if you ad is allowed to be shown.

Best is to use seo for affiliate marketing, although, it does take longer.

Yes, they do. Stop spreading this nonsense that they don't. As long as the landing page follows all the policies, you won't have any problems sending clicks directly from your ad to the affiliate. The message here is to read and understand the Adwords policies and make sure the affiliate's landing page is compliant.
