Are there any affiliate programs out there for advertisers that do not require floating 10k to the adverstising firm?

I'm not quite sure what you are on about, but have you tried looking at some of the programs from: http://www.affiliateseeking.com

It's a directory of affiliate programs. I'm not 100% sure if this is what you are asking for or not though.

What i am about is ... I am a business looking to advertise. I'd like to advertise with something like a CJ or Azoogle, but do not want to float tens of thousands of cash into their pockets while waiting for leads or sales...

I'm looking for a reasonable program..

Web Hosting, Dedicated Servers and Reseller Hosting. Essentially, "hosting".

    Jeremy, check out ShareASale.com

At the outset, you will be pleased with their prices/fees. Once you're aboard with them you'll be pleased with the transparency, the technical support and the overall popularity of this affiliate network.

I will also send you a PM about this in a sec. ;)

Oh, and for the sake of proper definitions, the word for a mediator between affiliates and merchants like CJ, LinkShare, ShareASale, Performics, buy.at, etc... is an "affiliate network".

An "affiliate program" is your the program run by a merchant on a network, or in-house.

I'd like to thank everyone that has contributed to this discussion. I have decided to do this in house... I think we should be able to create a very efficient Affiliate System of our own. Anyway, I'd rather see that 30% kick back go to those that are actually making the sale.

I hope to have something up and running in the next few weeks.. Look for it.

    Thanx again!!!!

Smart decision if you can handle the program management and recruitment, paying affiliates and replying to their tracking issues, etc... within your own company.

My personal experience with indies shows that for a new affiliate program and an unknown brand (I don't know if this applies to your situation or not, but am writing this hoping it'll help others in a similar situation) it is best to first go with an affiliate network which is trusted by tens of thousands of affiliates, and only once you have established credibility as a merchant/advertiser among a good number of affiliates, add an indie to the on-the-network program. If all goes well for the indie, with time you can cease the one on the network altogether...
