With the new EU Copyright Directive having passed the final vote, what affect will have on this forum? Will all members from the EU have to have all their posts vetted by a moderator? Will members from the EU simply be blocked? @digitalpoint
Nothing will change on this end. The Directive is for "online content sharing services". This website is not a content sharing service. In fact it's more of a marketplace than a content sharing site. More geared towards things like YouTube where people are sharing media/content. If that ever changes and we become liable for things users write, we wouldn't block the users, rather just put them into read only mode (so they can't write anything). We don't have any servers in Europe, have no physical presence, no employees that reside in any European country. Countries can't just make up laws and apply them to entities outside their jurisdiction. If that were the case, it would be illegal for women to drive anywhere in the world if one countries makes it a law. We are governed by US laws. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Section_230_of_the_Communications_Decency_Act It's just tricky for large companies that have an actual presence in those countries.
