I'm evaluating scripts for a possible project in the near future. To all who used aedating and phpFox, what would you think is better? By the way, aedating is the same as dolphin of boonex. Dolphin is free to download now.
I think dolphin have more features than phpfox. Phpfox is just an old myspace clone that's overused and only cost $39. Dolphin is free but really not free. Sometime after you've installed you'll need to contact support and that's when your credit card or paypal email will be used. $50/month or $120/quartely for support. I'm really thinking of buying AzDGDatingPlatinum v 1.7.3.
You can NULL the dolphin script - which is recommended either for paying or non-paying usage - since the call back to boonex website slows the script down a bunch. This NULL stuff can be found on http://www.modmysite.com - along with a bunch of dolphin/aedating mods and so on. The guy with the null script is "chainsmoker" - you can PM him on MMS (modmysite). I was not impressed at all by dolphin and aedating I found to have its problems, especially their license. I've stayed far away from them. PHPFox has been significantly updated and is much more versatile. At the same time they are extremely disorganized and I've found that a number of their items must be replaced. They are also two completely different functions - one is a dating site the other is social networking, which is dating plus more.
Dolphin looks great but it's not as good as it looks... plus they hit you with alot of extra fees. You can do a google search and see everybody talking about Dolphin. As far as AeDating - I think I seen it but never checked it out much... So, on that note I can't speak on it. Same company though so I would definately look into all the pricing and any "special" items you may need to purchase You can try PHPFox for $39.99 as a leased script. But leasing means you can't modify the code.
On this case you will be much better off with phpFox, since aedating is made by Boonex and their policies are not very effective plus their support not that great from what I read from other people's opinion, granted I have never played around with the script, I can guaranteed there are other dating software available that will suit your needs a lot better. I will post a list of worthy dating software once I make a decent review.
Hello Everyone, My name is Vlad, and i work in BoonEx. Found this thread to be a very good and useful feedback for BoonEx, thank you all for it. I jsut want to respond some of your messages if you allow me. I actually found that people still mix BoonEx and aeDating together, however even that one company has before been acquired by other, aeDating and Dolphin scripts still significantly differ from eachother, by the way if you will take a look at aeDaing site you will find that BoonEx actually does find aeDating as all dating scripts absolete. So here you better off with either going with phpFox or with Dolphin, as community software is now the king. You all are right about extra fees, none of us likes paying extra. Smoge is also right about calback links, they do a bit slowdown the script, how ever with all my respect to Smoge he must agree that now when BoonEx glad to announce Dolphin release under GNU-GPL license, both of the above issues are no longer relevant. The Dolphin 5.3 SMART Community Builder has no more extra fees and has no kind of call back links. You can learn more about new GPL Dolphin 5.3 SMART Community Builder at www.boonex.com/products/dolphin. Also thanks to Wazimm he has raised a really good issue - lack of documentation. Wazimm, you can find all the documentation now. More then that, now you can edit that documentation or write your own. All documentation is now stored in BoonEx Wiki Docs section, and whole BoonEx Community now can collaboratively moderate it. Wazimm, you are also now free to modify or distribute Dolphin, as it is like Firefox or Linux is now registered under ccGNU-GPL license. Which means it is both free in terms of price and in terms of use. You can as well get the latest no yet released version of Dolphin anytime, or submit your own modifications from/to BoonEx's Original Dolphin SVN available for whole BoonEx Community at www.svn.boonex.com. I would really suggest you guys to test Dolphin 5.3. BoonEx is now about building communities and software for building communities. Wait for it's dynamic growth, improvement and development. Just like Firefox, Dolphin is now built by community, and who knows better what community needs? Thank you again, EJRaven clenard slinky smoge affordableweb wazimm And wish you to make a right choice, Scaredcrow! P.S Sorry for a long text .
