Adwords working, but not generating profits?

Discussion in 'Google AdWords' started by squaredvision, Jul 24, 2009.

I am generating some traffic with this ad, but for some reason I am not seeing results in my ClickBank. I placed the HOP link in the adwords Destination URL properly with my USERNAME from clickbank and nothing so far.

    What am I doing wrong?

    -Thank you, Michael

With barely a 0.5% click rate in search, your ad is not very attractive to searchers to start with. Maybe you're using wrong keywords, not targeted enough. Then, there's the question of how good is the landing page at closing the sale. A one percent or lower conversion rate is not unheard of. You only have 75 clicks so it can be normal for this product. Doesn't mean that you send an affiliate a bunch of visitors that they will all buy. Those who buy may not buy today, but tomorrow or even next week.

you definitely need to turn OFF the content network, those clicks you are getting from the content network are very untargeted, that's why they don't convert

It's impossible to add any other suggestions without knowing your keywords or seeing your ad, but I can only assume that your keywords are likely untargeted or your ad copy is very poor, or a combination of both

not trying to sound like an arse but -- pause your campaign - do some research before resuming, right now it sounds like you just throwing away money..

first off you need to separate your search and content network
then you need to track your ads, keywords, etc..

what are you using for tracking?
    how many ads?
    how many keywords?
    how many keywords per adgroup?

try to find a mentor or ebook or join a coaching program - or else your throwing money away!

    > It makes adwords not worth it.

A familiar refrain. It's not worth it only because you didn't get the expected results. And the reason most PPC advertisers don't get the results they want is simply because they do it wrong.

I can back that up from learning the hard way.....
    clicks do not equal conversions.
and 75 clicks is rather insignificant isn't it?

Exact targeting using negative keywords is essential. Unless you are just branding your business. If you are selling something, you do not want people that are looking for free stuff to click your ads.
So ruling out who you do not want to click your ads is very important.

As Lucid says, you need a lot more clicks than that to really tell if the campaign will be a success.

Go away and learn more about adwords before you try it. It's a fantastic way to earn money, but only if you know what you're doing - otherwise it's an easy way to lose money very quickly

Buying a book might help, but you're probably better off reading forum posts in DP / WMW / Google Support Forum and then asking specific questions there

first of all, separate your content and search campaigns into different campaigns. You need to take care of your search CTR- You need to make more relevant ads and more attractive. Good luck
