Hello All I am all a bit conused today. I have been doing google adwords since a year now and lately since its holiday season i find it hard to cope up with the increasing price competition in Google. does anyone know which is better, Goog or overture and why? I would really appreciate a sincere response from users. I have already lost 700 odd dollars the past month and am not willing to advertise more before further comments from experts and people who have used it . Thanks a lot for the help in advance Rajeev
What's the content of the landing pages? What's your current CTR on the ads you're using in Adwords? It all depends, doesn't it? Google are penalising sites which lack any 'true' value content, and the lower the CTR the higher you'll have to spend to keep the same placing. As for the merits of Google or Overture/Yahoo Search Marketing, generally you'll see Google take the majority of the traffic with Overture mopping up a high percentage of the rest of the market. Miva and MSN adCenter are following up close behind. As for the demographics or psychological profile of savvy or not so savvy internet searchers, well I can't really comment. What's the business you're advertising on Google Adwords? Perhaps pushing traffic from another search engine would give you a higher hit rate when it comes to conversions simply because the users would be, err, educated differently and therefore more targeted to your needs. Before losing another 700 dollars (!!!) have you thought about tracking your ROI? There's no reason for anyone to lose that kind of money unless you're not making the right return, in which case you turn it off and tweak before turning it on again. Let me know if you need more help Regards Howard
Talking about ROI,…Let´s imagine someone is having a ROI of 50% on her Adwords investment (as I assume happened to design2host some time ago). How fast should she scale up her Adwords budget? Will her Adsense account be banned for the spike in traffic? Thank you for your insight!
If you're making money with Adwords, then either increase the volume of keywords you bid on, or increase your bid price slightly to get a higher ranking. As soon as you notice a *drop* in ROI then make sure you adjust quickly enough to get it back on track ... ... remember a high ranking on Adwords doesn't necessarily mean a higher ROI. I gain most of my higher ROI from being in 4, 5 and 6th positions as opposed to most newbie's plan of being in 1st position no matter what the cost! As for Adsense I cannot comment because I'm not an Adsense expert, but I'm sure someone will come along soon and tidy up the thread. H
Sometimes I use AdWords and sometimes Overture because whenever I plan to promote a product I always to promote both (AdWords & Overture) and analyze ROI. I think depend on ROI.
