Adwords tool, traffic and competition. Low competition vs high competition?

Hello, im fairly new to creating websites, i only have 1 and i havent uploaded it yet (made it in my localhost, i just need to seo it then ill upload it to my host). My question is very SEO related but about adwords.

When using adsense keyword tool i have no idea that Competition means, i looked it up and i find VERY different definitions:
    1) Competition (in the adsense tool) has a mean for companies, the more competition (high) the more companies bidding for that specific keyword.
    2) Competition (in the adsense tool) stands for the number of webpages competing for the same keyword.

Obviously this two definitions are very different tho in most of the time they go by hand, but i could have a keyword with high company competition but low webpages competition (if one could call it that...) and that'd be a good keyword i suppose, no?

Someone enlightenment me about this subject, please.

PD: i plan that my website only makes money from adsense, so this is why this matters a lot to me. Im doing nothing if i get high traffic but have no ads to display... and if the definition #1 is correct then the seo ive been doing has been for nothing because when i started i was looking for kw with "high volume searches+low competition"

The both go hand in hand. Google factors in all of the activity for a particular keyword including the paid and organic listings. It's good that you have went after high search volume, low competition keywords as you can now optimize your site for that keyword easily.

Thanks for the fast reply! This site is amazing.

But will there be adsense's ads to display if the competition is low? (assumming the correct definition for competition is #1 from my previous post)

PD: Forgive my bad english, sometimes i can be bad at wording, my primary language is in spanish.

    I agree! Don't mention it.

Most definitely. And in the rare case there aren't enough ads to display Google will then show the most relevant ad instead so you're good to go.

Thank you sir, you've been really helpful. My main worry was because i easily find low competition keywords (my site, and kw obviously, are in spanish) and probably is because there are way less companies trying to advertise using adword, but if there is always an ad available because google chooses one relevant to my content then i have little to worry about!

    Thanks again!

It depends on niche not specific keyword like Banking, accounting always pay CPC so you will get more for every click. If you want to build adsense sites target these niches otherwise focus on content rather than keywords.

It's not the competition level, but the CPC, or more importantly, the combination of the two. Your site should attract the most expensive clicks you can get, which means exact and phrase matches for good keywords with high CPC.
