Has anyone tried running adwords campaigns whereby they take clients straight to the ebay results page for the product they are searching for? If so, what was your experience? Is it worth it? (ebay affiliate in this case) Thanks
are you even allowed to do that? And you would have to target high priced items, Unless everyone bidding on the item is coming from your ad, I'd be pissed if someone else came in and sniped your sale that didn't go through you first.
Im sure it would work just like having a BANS site except you take the customer directly to the search results page. They still have your cookie and everything. If it was allowed this wouldnt be a bad idea. Every click would result in a cookie. When someone comes to your site they will most likely hit your affiliate link but a few may not. But if they click your ad its 100% sure shot that they have taken the cookie. Pretty good idea good job. Find out if it's allowed and you can make some good money! It's similar to the amazon PPC sales we've been seeing around here lately.
Thanks for the reminder Goran. I actually missed that part of the TOS I guess thats 160 clicks & $24 wasted Lesson 1 In Affiliate Marketing: Always read the TOS carefully. They dont say anything about redirects though, and they don't seem to suggest it isn't allowed. I'll try it out and learn the hard way. good thing is that they dont ban you. they simply don't pay you for a wrong action. its no wonder stats were not showing up in CJ.
My brother-in-law is an adwords / seo manager type of person. He has told me stories of how people would do this kind of stuff but with creditcard sites. These are not CJ.com affiliate, these are direct with the companies. He pointed out that most people get away with this kind of stuff because the affiliate managers don't pay close enough attention to where links are coming from. He switched to another company not to long ago (not creditcard related), and found someone else pulling this same stunt. The only way he caught this guy was because his commissions were WAY above normal, and after talking to the fellow, he explained to him what and how he was doing it. Needless to say, my brother-in-law quickly changed the TOS to avoid this from happening again. How he was doing it: bid on key terms (obvious), sent the traffic directly to the company, and ran the ads in the middle of the night (US time). Apparently, some managers do not pay attention to overnight results, but just keep up with the day to day activities. There is more to the story, but this is the gist of it.
