I'm new to AdWords, and just started a few campaigns. $10/day. 5 clicks. 2,286 impr. 0.21% ctr. $0.14 avg cpc. $0.68 cost. $10/day. 42 clicks. 12,374 impr. 0.33% ctr. $0.05 avg cpc. $1.94 cost. With that many impressions and so few clicks, are these not doing well?
Yeah, that's not that great, but it's a start. Try changing your keywords and descriptions. Some niches have a lot higher CTR than others, so don't fret too much.
Turn off ad serving int he content network for the time being. Get some accurate stats on what ad copy works.
I did some keyword research on overture, changed up the keywords in adwords this afternoon, and this evening I had 2 clickbank sales. woohoo.
If these numbers are from search network only (content network off) then you should try to improve them (aim for 3% - 4%) But probably you still have the content network on. When starting a new campaign you should only do search - when it converts add the content network.
You need to improve your pay per click ad copy. Writing better ads may also require you to separate your keywords. This means each keyword should get its own pay per click ad. Here are some references for you. Writing Your Pay Per Click Ads Selecting Your Keywords
You can't tell how your advert's performing with the Content Network switched on, it could account for 99% of your impressions and none of your clicks. Once that's switched off, you'll be able to tell whether your advert copy's working, but not until. The lack of clicks could be caused by a few things - poor advert text, low search traffic and low advert position are just three. What position do your adverts appear in?
