Adwords Spying Software - Advice?

Hi everyone,

I've been looking at different programmes that claim to be able to tell you what competitors are bidding on.

Do any of them work well?

If so, what would you recommend?

 

To be honest, no one piece of software gets anywhere near all the KWs your competitors are bidding on. I use Keyword Spy, it's the best of the bunch, but as an example it says we're bidding on 29,000 KWs, when we're actually bidding on over 300,000. Essentially the best they can do is get the high volume, short tail KWs - they miss 90% of the long tail. Having said that though how can any piece of software track every phrase / word combination known to man (apart from the SEs themselves of course...)

I had been wondering how they manage to come up with the list - could they really check every combination of words?

Seems implausible.

Do you think they just have a file of the most popular phrases (albeit 10s of millions) and search through that?

And, maybe that's why they're not getting your long tail?

Or, does it work differently to that?

PPC Webspy is good one for spy ClickBank products.

 

Ispionage is a good one. I don't like Spyfu

I happened to be listening to an old Frank Kern audio yesterday and, by coincidence, he mentioned he does this spying with Affiliate Elite.

However, when I checked out their site, I'm not sure if it's still supported (or still works).

And, the technical FAQ was non-existent... e.g. does it work for spying on UK advertisers? Does it work with vista?

Also, didn't the same guy (Brad Callen) come up with a more expensive spy tool either earlier this year or late last year?

(and I used one of his other programmes and it was terrible)

Anyone know anything about these products?

I have used PPC Bully which I liked very much... the interface is easy to use & quite fast... There is also Google cash detective, Spy fu & keyword Spy...

Have you Tried Chris Carpenter's google cash detective 2? They are even offering free trial.

 

I have used PPC Bully version One and was a Beta Tester for version 2 which is being released in the next day or so I think. I actually made a post over at my blog reviewing the software.I have used them all and found this to be the best for me.

I have used GCD 2 wasn't impressed - suggest you try the free trial for 7 days before committing.

 

Yes thats best thing to consider. Its better to form own opinion and that to free LOL

 

Don't bother with spy software and just focus on your own campaign!

 

For those looking for a free solution, go download a copy of Traffic Travis and use their PPC Analysis module. It doesn't give you instant results like GCD 2 or PPC Bully 2, but it's still pretty effective.

 

It's all about the results! I am using Google Cash Detective with awesome results... definitely not for newbies! If you invest the time to really understand PPC techniques, strategies.. this business intelligence tool does work! If I an do it, any seasoned PPC marketer can benefit..thx

 

seems interesting. I heard its good for newbies too.Perhaps newbies can decide about it after taking free trial they are offering.
