Now AdWords advertisers can pick and choose what sites (running AdSense) they wish to run their ads on... http://services.google.com/ads_inquiry/sitetarget?hl=en_US
I did a search but didn't see anything about it. What do you guys think? http://services.google.com/ads_inquiry/sitetarget?hl=en_US I've noticed that every so often, my 728x90 banner becomes one large text ad (from 4 smaller ads) and I think this is from advertisers using the site targeting program.
Site targeting was available early april this year for a select group of advertisers. The beginning of June this year all adword advertisers are able to use this feature. If you like to read more about site targeting have a look here . I personally havnt noticed any difference yet but maybe i need to check my log files more often to see what kind of search query strings visit my webpages.
If the format of ads used by site targeters is different than standard ads, we will be able to track those ads and do a comparative analysis. I’ll start watching for these ads, thanks!
You will (hopefully) notice more money too as these ads are paid on a CPM basis rather than click through. This could be big for us if advertisers start bidding to get on our sites.
My site targeting ad doesnt work because of some reason. I have 0 impressions, although the CPM is high enough (I'm close to the limit). Have I done anything wrong?
I just played with this for the first time as I hadn't enabled this feature under "My Account". One thing I noticed was that on my first try, specifying a relevant, but very specialized keyword, and two authority sites (both banks doing the type of thing I am interested in, but whose sites don't carry advertising of any kind) I got two (different) relevant sites that do offer CPM opportunities, but also about 30 where the site theme was recipes I selected the only two relevant sites and pressed on, just because I wanted to get a sense for what the CPM $$s was likely to be, and see the recommended daily budget. I then retraced my steps - as I had put garbage like "Test" for the Headline, "Line 1" for line 1, etc. in the dummy ad and did not want to go live at this stage Interestingly, when I got back to "Target ad: choose sites" (step 3, of 6), the Candidate Sites box was now populated by quite relevant sites. Maybe it was a fluke but based on my experience you might want to try going back to Step 3 before committing, just to see if more relevant sites have populated the Candidate Sites box.
