Hey all, I recently started my adwords campaign. Correct me if I am wrong in thinking I got a decent chance of making money. The program I am promoting is worth $65 a sale. I put my max bid at .05 which I thought was way too low. But if I go to google and type in the keywords which are very specific, literally people typing into google ready to purchase, I see my site. It isnt at number one, but it is around 3 - 8 and sometimes all by itself in smaller keywords, still around 100 searches a month. Should I increase my max CPC to get listed higher on these keywords or should I just take the 0.05 a click $65 a sale , and have I found a good niche? Kyle
Are you talking about normal search results, or the ads to the right of the search results? Because AdWords doesn't affect the normal search results as far as I know...
Let me be more clear: I started an adwords campaign this morning, and initially set my max CPC at 5 cents. I figured it would be way too low and I wouldn't show up, but I am new to adwords and was just testing the waters. Well to my surprise the 0.05 bid was enough to get placed on some competitive keywords (in the adsense block on right). I am getting $65 per signup and the traffic is very targeted. My question was, is 0.05 a click / $65 sale a good niche? Or should I bump my CPC to like $2 to get listed higher or maybe in the blue sponsored listings? Some keywords Im targeting get only like 100 searches a month, but I am getting 0.05 a click/ $65 a sale and I'm the only one listed in the "sponsors" . So my 2nd question is "Is it worth it to attack these smaller keywords as well, if I can get .05 CPC /$65 sale and am the only sponsored listing?"
Well, I have yet to test this myself (just got analytics) ... But how is your clicks to download conversion rate? A thumb rule says you can convert 1-2% of downloaders to buyers...
I think what he's saying is when he puts in a keyword in Overture, it shows it only get 100 searches a month. He uses this low search word as a keyword in Adwords and put a max .05 on it. When he searchs for this keyword in Google his ad shows up in Adwords and is the only ad using that keyword. So he wants to know "Is it worth using such a low searched keyword?" I don't see it hurting, but then again, it's not going to bring any clicks aither. No clicks = no conversions (sales). If your .05 keywords are bringing click....great! If not, that makes them worthless. My motto is "You gotta pay to play". Then again, i dont really know much. I'm just guessing.
Thanks, that was exactly what I meant. BOG - I have gotten many signups through organic traffic but not PPC, which I just started this morning. I'll keep you updated... so far only 1 click 20% ctr and other campaigns 0 clicks.
Well if you just started it this morning than you can count on that keyword going up in price in the next couple of days. Just watch....it will happen and your keword will be inactive at .05 PGZ
Yea, some of them originally said min. 13 cents, etc., the most expensive one is 33 cents cpc. The funny thing is, I am in one of the most competitive industries but adwords campaigns are nearly non existent.
Hi Kyle, I'd say it sounds like you've found a pretty lucrative niche. One comment on an earlier question: I believe the "blue sponsored listings" (listings above organic SERPs) are based on Quality Score, not CPC. I'm not an expert, so if this is incorrect, experts can feel free to correct me. HTH, Sam
