A couple days ago I had an ad disapproved because I used a trademark name in the text description. Since then, words I could usually bid very low for, such as 35 cents or so, have gone up to $1.20. Did having an ad disapproved earlier hurt my overall quality score and thus the reason for the higher bids?
probably not... its just a coincidence... usually the increase in min bid is due to poor performing text ads write new ones and it should go down
It doesn't matter what keyword I choose to use or what niche, the minimum bid is always $1.20. Even if I put in my own name as a keyword, I get the same result. This can't be normal.
Unfortunately, your high bid price might have resulted from the trademark they rejected. I'd advise you to delete that campaign and start all over again to get the lower bid price.
Adjust the content on your page to be more related to the search term you are using. Make sure you point your ad to a specific page, not just a general page.
Probably you would not recover from price. Since you bid with trademark term like "Sony walkman" you had one of rare ads for that search term and bid of .35 was acceptable. Now, you are removed from use of Sony and there, you have only Walkman. With that kwd you can bid but price is high and probably QS is lower than competitors.
I had a disapproved display URL, will this affect my price? I'm new to adwords so any input is appreciated
