    Hi

I have been helping a friend with his Adwords account. I had paused his original campaign, made another campaign which I ran for a bit, did not really work out that well, so I restarted his original campaign....Since I have un-paused his old campaign and paused my new one, his conversions, CTRs and general overall performance has been way worse that it has ever been....

Why is this??? As I have not touched his original campaign. It sounds crazy but could I have done anything to the account to cause this? I just cant understand it as I did not touch his campaign at all...Well All I did was rename it, thats it...

I could of just hit a very poor conversion period for his site, but it is just a bit of a weird coincidence..

    Thanks
    Rob

    Hi robert1978,

I had exactly the same thing happen to me about ten months ago, but then i ended up scrapping the whole campaign so never thought about it, but i remember how frustrating it was at the time. I also remember reading (but too late of course!) that instead of pausing campaigns it's best just to drop the max bid to 0.01 - so the ads wont run but wont pause and suffer any unwanted issues.

I'm not sure how big a campaign you've got but if its not too much trouble you can always setup the exact same one, run them side by side, and see if it performs any better.

Thanks - I had a feeling it was paused ads causing display issues....I doubt Google will verify this! However, it must be the reason why. Instead of dropping to the min bid I have deleted them....this way they are gone totally...I know you can undelete a campaign, but you cant undelete keywords!

It was almost Google slows the display down or even does some kind of bizzare rotation of the ads if you pause too may keywords or have a large camapign with similar keywords then pause it... it is so weird.....

The performance of keywords cannot be changed even if they are in different campaigns, different targeting (Search, Display). Deleting them is not enough!

You need to make sure that you concentrate on your bidding.
