Adwords Paused but still billed!?!?

How can I prove when my account was paused?

I believe that it was paused in May of this year, at the latest early June.

I have just checked my statements and found that Google has been charging me right up to the end of July.

I have queried this with Google and they say that I paused the account on the 16th July. This is not possible!!

Anyone had similar experiences with Google?

We've occasionally seen impressions and even clicks on paused ads, but not been billed for them. Not quite sure why - and it;s not even necessarily on just the Content network.

Google will charge you every 30 days unless your advertising costs reach your current payment treshold! Take a look at the invoice found in your "Billing Summary" page. It will explain the last charge.

Did you really think Google would not charge you for the outstanding balance?

I manage dozens of accounts and what I'm sure is hundreds of thousands of keywords and have never seen impressions/clicks/billing for paused keywords.

My bet is that you made a mistake or messed up your dates.

Duh! No I did not think that Google would not charge me for the outstanding balance.

However as the campaign was not running why would I expect a charge at all?

The problem is that I am pretty confident of my dates.

You see the campaign ran pretty successfully up until the majority of keywords started hitting page 1 on Google. At this point I put the campaign on pause.

Now, I am certain that this happened toward the end of May and might have run into early June but unlikely as I was monitoring the keyword activity pretty closely during this period.

If I have made a mistake then I am happy to admit it but I am seriously doubting the billing from Google as there is no way the campaign was running as late as July!!

You asked: "Anyone had similar experiences with Google?", I answered:)

If there was a billing date range mistake my assumption is it would have impacted more than just your account.

Anyway, log into your AdWords account and go to:

    Tools > My Change History

    You'll see, among other things:

Status changed from Active to Paused

with the exact date and time that it happened.

    Not that confident then ;)

As GuyFromChicago stated, you can view your change history in the AdWords system, as can Google. If you have an issue with billing then you need to be contacting an AdWords rep via phone ideally.

I've never seen imp./clicks from paused campaigns my company manages..
