I am a Realtor in San Diego, CA. I was recently approached by the sales team of a San Diego MLS listings IDX provider. There are lots of companies out there who offer IDX solutions for Realtors to display MLS listings on their websites. This company is called HouseValues but they also do business as MarketLeader. Their new product group is called GrowthLeader. The thing that makes this GrowthLeader product different is that they have a deal with Google to resell Adwords at extremely discounted prices. They provide a simple website template which displays free MLS listings along with the photo and contact information of the client Realtor. Then they separately sell Adwords that will bring traffic to the very simple website that they set up and host for a monthly fee. These sites are about as generic as they come. I really don't want to put my name on one of them. The thing that surprises me is that they are able to offer Google Adwords at such low prices. It is practically half the price of a standard Adwords bid. This is giving a big incentive to a lot of agents to set up spammy websites with duplicate content. Why would Google want to do that? Aside from the money, it seems like the idea of it goes against the grain of the traditional Google philosophy of encouraging fresh content on the web. Do you know of any other companies out there that are able to get Google Adwords at steeply discounted prices based upon a bulk rate or group rate or something of the sort? Is there a deep reseller base at these reduced prices?
