Hello I have gust opened an adwords account for the first time. I did some researching before this about adwords. But now..i am confused I have made a list(2000) of very targeted keywords. The adwords traffic estimator tool tells me that they will be on #1 position for the CPC I have set, I guess because there is no advertiser targeting this exact keyword phrases. I have made my ad and adwords says now it'a active. But now, big disapointment: when I search for that specific keyword phrase my ad doesn't shows up, but I can see other ads from advertisers targeting the one general keyword, not this exact phrase. I think it was my mistake..I thought if I was the only one bidding for that exacte keyword phrase my ad will be shown..guess not. What can I do now? Increase the CPC ? Any other suggestions? Thanks, Adrian
Are you using any geo targeting or other filtering options that may be preventing you from seeing your ads? Also, if you just opened a brand new account sometimes there can be delays with new AdWords accounts.
I am using geotargeting (US only) but I have checked to see if my ad appears using "&gl=us" in ther url and also using Adwords Ads Diagnostic Tool. I have activated my account yesterday but the first campaign was activated 2 hours ago so maybe it will take some time.
i think you can check if they are displayed using one of the tools adwords provide you with. Click Tools above campaign details and choose the right one. put the keyword into the box and it will tell you whether your ad is running or not.
Be careful with a new account. I have several disaster stories to tell of clients who lost control. Monitor you clicks and expenditure hour by hour until you are confident everything is under control.
Why dont you check which keywords are the most competitive http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion/ and start with those, 2000 is a lot unless your pocket is deeeeepppp... start with 15 major keywords. and start your PPC with say .20C, then adjust to get desired position
Keep in mind, others are bidding on those same keywords. If you bid 20 cents on a keyword and someone else bids 25 cents, their ads will in all probability come up first. I tried some oddball keywords that people (very few, why oddball) search on with a 1 cent to 5 cent bid. And darn if someone did not outbid me! Took me like 2-3 weeks to spend $25 that way!
