Is using Adwords keyword tool a good "acurate" tool way of finding out how often keywords have been searched!

Also using the bar they use to show how much has been searched, if its half way how much traffic is that a month? One quarter etc?

If you want to know how much traffic receives a keyword, then use Google Traffic Estimator, not the Keyword Tool.

I would say their keyword tool is good enough to use. I personally use only that.

Neither tool is accurate; they only convey a general idea as to the levels of traffic. The only way to ascertain real traffic levels is to launch a campaign.

keyword discovery and wordtracker have free search estimation tools but again they are not always "accurate"

the best and only way to find out is run a test campaign ... i do this all the time

just make sure you're near the bottom 7-9 and have a sucky ad so it doesn't get clicked that much, if not you can rake up some costs for just a test :p

Google keyword tool is not 100% accurate, and neither is any other tool for that matter.

If google says search volume is low, its probably true unless its a brand new search term that is barely gaining popularity is being bid on.

I had that problem. I think the search volume for the term was too low.

Feel free to check out my free keyword tool. It pulls data from wordtracker, so its the same as that, except that it also allows you to save to .csv files which is real handy if you want to combine multiple searches.

It also checks the competition each keyword has in the search engines, which is very helpful if you are going after organic traffic.
