I'm currently testing some new keywords using AdWords. This is for a Polish client and we're targeting only a specific region of Poland because it's an exclusive furniture business. My client already has an AdWords campaign running, which is doing pretty badly, so I set up a new one with a new budget and they are now running simultaneously. A summary of the new campaign I set up is as follows: 1 new ad group (although keywords could semantically be split into 3 or more groups - I'll do this later after I've tested the keywords and we start SEO and AdWords properly) About 20 keywords, all set to exact match No negative or embedded match keywords (because I'm only using exact match) Content network OFF Ad scheduling OFF Delivery set to standard and display evenly over time so I can test the ads properly About 3 ads each with 2-3 variations (to target 3 main groups of keywords) Landing page is the home page (I know this is wrong, but once I have found the best keywords I will build new landing pages). Here is the problem, Whatever I type into Google (google.pl for Poland), the ad displayed seems to be a random selection from my list of 8 ads, even though the keywords I'm using are set to exact match. Why would this be happening? There is one keyword that appears in all ads (a variation on "furniture") but with exact match on I wouldn't have thought this would be an issue. I'm pretty sure this has nothing to do with the other campaign that my client set up herself as it uses 1 single ad, completely different, and all words are broad match. I tried pausing the original campaign but it made no difference. I'm wondering if it would help if I split the keywords and ads into ad groups and used negative match keywords, but I wouldn't have thought this was necessary with exact match keywords. Is this a bug or have I misunderstood something fundamental about AdWords? Anyone any ideas? Many thanks in advance.
Is sounds like there is a strange merge going on between the Campaigns. Are you 100% the keywords being used have been registered in the exact phrase format? As for a solution can you not just create a new account or Campaign on your own personal account?
Hi, thanks for your response. Yeah, the new campaign I set up definitely has only exact match keywords, like this: [exact match keyword]. My client's old campaign uses only broad match. When I've finished testing I will deactivate the old campaign, but the fact that I've already tried pausing it and still got random ads being displayed concerns me.
It might be a possible delay after the pause? How long was it until you checked after pausing your client's Campaign?
