Hello, I started advertising on Adwords back in 2003. Those were the good old days. The cost for running the ads was approximately 9% of the gross revenue earned by the (then not so great) site. Well, I had a love-hate relationship with the site. It earned me money, but it required constant customer support - especially phone support. This was not easy to accomplish being that I worked full time at another job and the site really didn't make enough to pay for a CS rep full time. I shut down the site for a year and I recently put it up again. Anyway, long story short the ads are now costing approximately 35% of the gross revenue from the site. There is a lot more competition now, and only a handful of the more than 500 keywords I have actually have a CTR worth mentioning. Furthermore, only the most expensive keywords convert at all. I have tried adding a few features to my website (3rd party validation, more product information, etc). By no means is this complete - I should have reviews, testimonials, upsells, etc. But I really think with the features I have my conversion rate should be much higher than it is, despite the amount of competition there is now. My question is - where do I go from here? There are really only a few keywords that actually produce results and I am going broke on those keywords. Any advice would be appreciated.
