Adwords for news websites?

Does anyone use adwords for bringing traffic to a news website? I do not have a product to sell, the only income we earn is from ad sales, so is it worth paying to send visitors over to use if all we have is news?

It can be still profitable if the keywords you choose are ( in addition to be right in price ) the ones which attract subscribers rather than random visitors. The all magic is just in selection of keywords.
If it is in your budget, you can hire a PPC expert (but authentic one, beware!)

How about in respects to Adsense policies, if the same content is appearing on two separate domain names?

Isn't this considered to be Arbitrage by Google? An adwords page specifically setup to make money via adsense. Google bans adwords accounts that do arbitrage quickly when it finds them.
