Is this a good idea? I've considered it for a while, but most people say it's a bad way to get you traffic and it's uneffective. Thoughts?
I realize that, but it's just traffic... which in itself, for a forum site, doesn't necessarily do much. What I need is registering members and people to start posting, not just traffic. :/
get some good topics started, something current, and controversial, and drive the adwords to that thread, people read it, may have an opinion and join up to post it. I havent tried it as I have just thought of it lol. I think I will give it a try when I start my adword campiagn in January.
Adwords can drive regular traffic to your forum. I would use very specific keywords and use the word forum so you don't get junk traffic or at least lower the possibility of getting junk traffic. One problem you may have with using adwords is a steady stream of spammers.
Adwords (or any traffic really) won't get you memebers & posts in a forum - your forum and it's content will have to take care of that. Adwords can help you get highly targeted people to your forum, but your forum will need to close the deal. If you use or want to experiment with Adwords and registrations/posts are your goals set up comnversion tracking in your Adwords account and measure it's overall effectiveness in helping you meet those goals.
