Adwords doesn't seem to be working for me

I just started using Adwords today so maybe I shouldn't really be posting this so early. I'm currently bidding on 195 keywords/phrases-150 of those came from the Adwords tool. It seems that if you bid below $.50 a click your ad doesn't show up in the searches anymore. I think most of you would agree that $.50 or more a click will not give you a good ROI. The website I'm trying to market is for an e-book that is related to wholesale. Out of 195 keywords and phrases, you would think I would get a little exposure from Google. How can you find cheaper niches to advertise in with Adwords?

I already considered that "of course". However, I'm trying to figure out how Adwords works. I'm pretty sure I'm doing something wrong and was hoping somebody could tell me what I'm doing wrong. Also, I forgot to mention that I'm using my $50 voucher from 1and1 so I have nothing to lose here. I'd rather figure out how to use Adwords for FREE rather than spend $50 out of my own pocket.

Take some money and purchase Adwords 101. It's a brilliant e-book and would teach you far far more than anyone of us here could possibly even know.

I actually think I may have figure out the problem. I had the word "REALLY" in all caps in the description which I believe Google doesn't allow. I'll find out soon if that's the problem

Bid 2$ for the keywords and buy 100 clicks. See which keywords convert well. Delete the rest of the keywords and keep the bids same for those particulars.

Those who are long in the game will agree that two things which matters the most are -

    1. Choice of the right affiliate program (Stupid programs won't convert however well you advertise). Must have a excellent landing page.
    2. Targetting the right keywords. You wont believe, i got 100 keywords from keyword tool and, i bid on all, i find later that its actually only 3 keywords which are bringing all the conversions. So it is essential to bid on the right keyword and separate all the others. For example - Bid on the keyword "health insurance" and you will see very high volumes, perhaps hundreds of search network clicks, but will hardly convert 1%. Instead bid on keyword "health insurance quote". You can get a maximum of 100 clicks in a day even if you bid 5$ per click. BUT, it will convert like 20%.

You won't believe, some of my campaigns online from last few months have just 3 keywords and content network disabled and ONLY those three keywords making like 25% conversions.

SO, if you found the right affiliate program and the right keywords, you are already a millionaire, you just need to scale up. To know that experiment. When you experiment, you loose money :D
