Ok, I got an idea, but I am not really sure, that Adwords is going to accept this. Let's say I need a landing page for a Clickbank product. I go to Blogger.com and create a review page for the product. Then I buy a domain and redirect it to my blog of the product review. I go to Adwords and set up a campaign for this product. I put my domain(which I bought) in display and destination url. So the user will end up on my review page of the product, and after reading the review they can click on my link and go to merchant's page to buy the product. What do you think about this?
The domain you list as the display URL must be the URL in the browser's address bar. If you attach your domain to your blogger account so that YourBlog.com is the actual address of the blog, not "you.blogspot.com", it'll work. Google doesn't care about any redirects, just the final URL. If you just use your domain as the redirect, and the campaign lands on you.blogspot.com, your display URL would have to be you.blogspot.com
direct linking sucks. waste of money big time.. if you like getting google slapped, wasting money keep doing it. that's really old way of doing it.. landing page, cloak all links. : )
You do realize that every large advertiser on Google (not an affiliate, but the merchant directly) "direct links" to their site, right?
I've heard both side to this. Some people say direct linking is the only way to go because having a landing page is an extra step to the buyer. From what I understand, the disadvantage of direct linking is that you are "competing" for the display URL. Anyone else have thoughts on this?
scottybody Well, display URL competition is not difficult to avoid. Simply get a domain and redirect it to your hoplink
IMHO it depends on the quality of the landing page, if your merchant's landing page is really good (high convertion rate) then I don't see a point of creating your own landing page (unless you are sure able to create a better one) and if the merchant's landing page sucks it's vice versa. What you can do is ask the merchant, do they check their sales page for convertion rate? if they do, how high? If they don't then you have 2 options: start a campaign with direct-link create your own landing page (or outsourced it) see if your direct-link campaign making reasonable sales compare to ad cost, if it's not then go to the second option. Cheers,
You've got it!!!!! Great idea about blogger. At Godaddy.com if your get a domain then they offer a free hosting with that domain some times.
ronaldec7 There is free hosting with every domain on Godaddy.com However, because it's free hosting, there are ads displayed at the top of every page. BTW, I created a landing page for my product and put it into Adwords campaign. My QS of keywords jumped from "OK" to "Great" just in few hours. No sales yet, but good results for now.
Can you expound on this? From what I understand, the display URL has to be the same as the final landing page. So if my final landing page was amazon.com, my display URL would need to be amazon.com and I would be competing against everyone who is using amazon.com. Is that right. Even if I redirect from BestBookPrices.com to Amazon.com my display URL would have to be Amazon.com, right? Or could my display URL be BestBookPrices.com? I'm a little unclear on this.
Is that against G's TOS? I thought display URL had to be the same as the final landing page. But then again, if that's the case, what's the point in G even asking for a destination URL? As you can see, my confusion runs deep...
