CPM is way better than contextual. The cost for it is also very low.

All i want to say is.,
CPM based campaigns are better, because you select the sites and target them with your ads , unlike Contextual based campaigns where you dont have control over sites where your ads are placed., This leads to better CTR which inturn leads to Solid conversions!.
Iam trying regional targeting for example, For the jobs campaign we target by country selecting several sites manually (including dp) and target campaigns based on the nature of the site.

There's a place for CPM campaigns but I don't think a blanket, universal statement like "they are better" is at all accurate.

Better in some situations - yes. Better in general - no.

    Agrees with the above poster.,

This is an experience from my campaigns.,

i tried 2 big budget campaigns., One related to wedding (it sucked), One related to job (Performed/Performing very well)

All i wanted to suggest is:
Just give it a try and share your experience.,

We do country targetting , For example for the job campaign we selected thousands of site manually from the list (which includes dp) and grouped them on the basis of their traffic., and target different campaigns for different countries.

While choosing currency, try out with Indian rupee., its cheaper than trying with US Dollar
