AdWords Cost?

Is it better to put more money into adwords with then a short amount of time to get better click cost or should I say I need to do it that way to get good click cost because I've already thrown 1200 dollars into my adwords account and all my keywords are reading great which they just started reading great last week, but my damn cost is sky high 2-3 dollars per click it is a new account, but i see my competitors promoting the same affiliate I am just don't make no sense and there account is running 24/7, so they have to be making money off it.

I just don't see why my cost is still high specially after putting 1,200 into it my account is around 1-2 months old. These are long tail keywords too.

Reason I ask the question above for because I have been putting a few hundred in it here and there I'm wondering if its just better to slap 1,500-2,000 into the account and just let it run that way?

putting more money into your account will not reduce your bid cost

They don't care what your account balance is.

Letting your ad run 24/7 will yield better placement. No way other than up-ing your bid price around that.

It takes time to establish, but if you bid 90% of your current threshold for first page results your ad will eventually creep on to the first page.(assuming your competitors don't have a 5 figure adwords budget and artificially price you out of the space)

I got this advice from someone else, and it worked, but it took a few weeks. I also had to tweak the ad to ward off unwanted clicks from lookey-loo's. You may also want to use one of the click fraud services to see if your competitors are the cause of some of your "stray clicks"

Throwing cash at Google won't help. They simply get a bigger bag to haul it away in.

If you don't mind me asking how do you do with affiliates?

Actually I exchange some consulting sessions with a super affiliates and they told me I'll just have to keep spending then eventually the cost will just dramatically go down specially on a new account. Also when I get to thinking of it, it only makes sense becuase my competitors are bidding on the same keyword, but making money, so therefore tell me I just need to let it run.

My quality score just went up to great a few days ago.

"How do you do with affiliates?"

    In respect to what?

    1. Attracting new ones?

    2. Generating conversions from them?

    3. Dis-suading freaks with myspace pages from clicking on my ads?:D

Not sure what direction you're going.

How do you know your competitors are "making" money? They may be willing to eat the extra Adwords cost to generate more exposure short term and live with the loss margins to build more affiliates for the future and, incidentally, drive you off the first page as well. Killing two birds with one stone is much easier with a pile of cash.
