Semi-longtime reader, first-time writer. Very experienced with Google AdWords (I used to work there), not as experienced with CJ (been pushing a handful of programs through CJ for only ~six months). In the last six weeks or so, I've started to make some real money through CJ, to the tune of $500-$900 a day, from a very small group of dependably fruitful programs I've found by way of extremely methodical trial and error. 90% of the traffic I send comes from directly through AdWords campaigns, the rest from YSM and adCenter. I only use direct linking. In the first few weeks after I got into this game, I got burned by a lot of invalid clicks, failing initially to grasp the concept that in CJ you have to select one referring site for each link you generate, and then stick to it. Once I deduced that the invalid clicks came from my content network AdWords campaigns, I killed those campaigns immediately and haven't reconsidered the content network for CJ traffic purposes since. But now that my little side project is starting to turn into a big side project, I'm getting more serious about this whole thing, and would love to find a way to capitalize on the massive (and, for the right kind of advertiser, massively profitable) traffic source that is the Google content network. I know it's possible to direct link from the content network, but I'm having the damndest time figuring out how. Does anyone here use the content network to direct link to CJ programs? Will you kindly share your workaround to the invalid links roadblock? Do you have to get tricky and clever--redirect to a splash page, try to beat the system via some sort of masking technique? I know this isn't a black hat forum, and I want to keep my methods above board, but since I'm relatively new to CJ, I'm thinking that I may just be missing something easy here. I can be pretty thick sometimes. Just ask my wife. Can anybody help me?
Read the Advertiser's policy - some allow direct linking. You have to wonder, do the policies governing Search also apply to content? You can claim that you own or are affiliated with a particular website where your ad seems to be working. I have not ran into this issue from CJ. Some offers convert better with a bridge page, others don't. Did the Advertiser complain or was it CJ? Don't ever use PPV/CPV traffic, they'll nail you.
I never buy PPV traffic, and I only promote advertisers who allow direct linking. And sure, I could claim that I'm affiliate with content network sites I'm advertising on, but then I'd need to either (a) manually add literally hundreds if not thousands of sites to my CJ account, or (b) run only placement-targeted content campaigns (rather than keyword-targeted), which would massively limit the traffic potential. Is there not a better solution?
