I do a bit of PPC management for the past ear or so. Most of my clients are fine and i just charge them 10% of their monthly budget and i hear nothing from them except payment. I have taken on this new client about a week ago and he is sending me about 8 emails a day on average asking for all kinds of things... hundreds of adgroups, thousands of mispelings (uploaded about 30k mispellings this morning), different ad postions (1-5, the 1-3, then just page 1 which means i had to go into loads of adgroups to change) and lots of other requests meaning that I am spending too much time on his account.... what can i do? what do you do with clients like these? i have never had one like this before. it is not as bad as it sounds as i have programs which make one adword per keyword and of course mispelling software and adwords editor, but still, its taken over 2 hours this morning to do his changes that he asked for.
You have to keep at it, this is what the client is paying you for. I also have clients that simply say "get x amount of conversions at x cost per conversion and I'll keep paying"; while I also have clients who are very finicky about their whole account and want great amounts of work to be done on a daily basis. If this is your job then you have to do it or get rid of the client... You need to make a schedule and spread your time across the clients, that ensures that each account is worked upon each day.
client is now saying things like... my ad is showing for this phrase and keyword when they are not! Wasted more time checking adgroups for wrong keywords - none there, all ok.. 5 emails today from him and its only 14:20! I am just hoping he is going to calm down when I get things how he wants them. I am working less than minimum wage for this guy the way it is going.
LOL in these days it is really pleasure to have a client ready to spend on adwords Do your best and if the things go well for some time, you can ask for more payment But don't loose a client who is ready to spend at adwords.
just do what ever you can to please your client. If you think that you are spending too much time for his account and underpaid for all the work that you are doing then either you ask for a raise or tell him that you are no longer going to handle his account...
New record yesterday, 16 emails from him!!!! Today just the 3, but then again its only 10am. Last email correspondence went like this... Him : 'im still not appearing for manchester at all,for wigan, bolton, lpool, warrington' Me: 'yes you are mate... look' (copy and pasted number of impressions for each adword he is on about from adwords account and then also do a search on Google and send him a screen shot of him in position 2 for manchester phrase) Him : ok mate
Tell him that positions are not important. Traffic and conversions - this is what he has to be interested in.
He will be paying me about £130 a month and £199 signup fee which I have really earnt (I gave him a £50 free credit with this). I tell him that more clicks are better than being higher, but he is not interested in that, he wants to be top - some of his clicks are at £4 a click when they could be more like £2 and still get clicks.
At 130bucks, it's way too much work. Since the deal is already made, you can't really do anything about it but try to offer "customer support" as much as possible. The thing I hate about such clients is that that they just don't listen to you. And at the end of the day, when he's not making money, he comes and BLAMES you. It be best if you can set up some agreement upfront in future, giving you 100% decision making responsibilities.
he decided to leave yesterday! got an email saying that he was not getting any bookings... must say i was pleased! In the end, i was probably working for £25 an hour with the signup fee... lot of stress for not a lot of money. I'm not one for paying much attention to so-called internet gurus, but something I read by Perry Marshall years ago has always stuck in my mind, it went along the lines of "just occasionally you need to sack the customer"
If your not being paid enough for your time then let the client go. Some clients are not worth having on your books, they will stress you out and expect you to do everything for nothing. However, if you feel that you are being paid enough for the work that you are doing, then stick with it. It can only get better.
