Adwords clicks worth having if not converting (ecommerce)?

OK, I have an adwords campaign that gets a lot of clicks but they are not converting to orders. Is it worth paying for this campaign for an ecommerce store? Do you hope that they bookmark your site and come back later to purchase?

Google Analytics shows a bunch of clicks but few conversions. I read that the google analytics cookie only last 30 days.

    Thoughts?

To answer this correctly, you need assist analysis data. Many clients have turned off high volume keywords due to low conversion volume, but new discoveries have concluded that some keywords assist in the conversion of others, meaning if you turn off that keyword it is possible that other keywords will convert less often.

Yahoo is the only search engine currently providing search assist data, but many in house tracking softwares can expose this information to a client.

Can you provide more info on digging deeper into the data to see if it is worth having.

Robertpriolo, I don't understand. How can some keywords help other keywords convert?

Cgchris99, as your site is for e-commerce purposes, the only thing that should concern you is ROI. The fact that you get loads of clicks is pointless if those clicks do not convert. If I were you, I would concentrate on optimising the campaign.

example, someone search for "Keyword1" and then the next day the search your "yourcompanyname" and then make a purchase

only "yourcompanyname" will get credit for the sale or lead, but if it wasn't for keyword 1 you would never have got that sale...

Same scenario if they do keyword 1 which causes a search for keyword 2 which creates the sale. Credit is given to keyword 2 for the sale but if it wasn't for keyword 1 the sale would never have happened.

Yahoo has already begun to provide this information...

A good common scenario is this as well:

visitor search for a manufacturer name and discovers a model number he wants to purchase, the visitor returns to the search engine to shop compare and comes across your site again using a model number search. Then makes the purchase on the model number. Conversion credit is given to the model number and the manufacturer name just racks up clicks

I see. I thought you were talking along the lines of a single visit, not subsequent visits.

Yes, but how do we track this or even know this is happening?

you need special tracking software to get this information. I am not aware of any public tracking available, this is normally created in house
