Hi All, Quick question: I've been seeing some CB affiliates advertising Clickbank URL's directly on google Adwords. And I see that the URL they're advertising doesn't match the target URL, which is the actual website URL target. My questions is: 1) How do they do that? 2) Is it allowed by Google? To fully understand what I mean google: "Affiliate Elite" And look for this ad: Affiliate Elite. I Didn't Believe It Until I Saw This,Check The Result Before Order. AffiliateElite.Reviews-2010.Info The above URL doesn't even work?!? Weird...Ha?
In your example, the domain name is reviews-2010.info (or www.reviews-2010.info if you prefer). As long as the click eventually reaches that domain, Google does not have a problem. Adding a sub-domain as in your example is considered part of the main domain. It doesn't have to actually exist. Same if the display showed as a sub-page like: www.reviews-2010.info/AffiliateElite That page (URL assumed to be www.reviews-2010.info/AffiliateElite/index.html or a .php) does not need to exist. Although it would be a good idea to create that page or sub-domain in case someone like you types it directly into their browser.
That's all good. But when you click that link you actually reach this URL: http://www.affiliateelite.com/index1.htm Which doesn't include the reviews-2010.info in it. So how's that possible?
He probably added the redirect after the ad was approved...but it won't last long, fooling Google this way isn't a bright idea and can result in getting your account banned.
That, I don't know. In my opinion, that ad should be disapproved because of non-matching URLs or whatever Google calls it. Maybe it's confused because the sub-domain is the same as the actual domain? But that definitely should not be allowed. The .info domain goes nowhere and even gives an error that the server "owen198383..hop.clickbank.net cannot be found" so obviously someone promoting a CB product (is Affiliate Elite a CB product?). There is a form I believe you can fill out if you see this sort of thing. How they got around the rule is a mystery to me.
That's what I thought.... hmm... So looks like there's no easy way but rather to go and build myself a new landing page... back to the drawing desk
in the long run, its always better to create a decent landing page. Direct linking is a model that will not last. With a landing page, you can build an optin for emailing them after, etc. I wouldn't bother with direct linking these days. Allthough it was still possible on Bing if i'm not mistaken.
as long as it does not infringe on copyright laws its ok it just the display url when ever I place an ad for a clickbank product I use the actual site url for my display url so the visitors arent supprised when it redirects them
I agree with you too, i think never in business try to deceive any body, mostly if it is a company like google which they got it and will ban you from anything you gain. so don't do that.
He is using redirection. It's not against Google's TOS, but you need be careful anyway. Google is slapping campaigns that do not offer useful content to their users. Also, if another affiliate is already direct linking to the ofer you shouldn't do it. But my experience shows me that for 90% of the offers you will get much better conversions using a landing page. Also, if you are not sure about how to start promoting your offer, try Bing before Google. The clicks are much cheaper and you won't have to worry about getting banned. William
thats a good idea I have never tried bing but I will have to give it a shot and as far as a landing page goes alot of affiliates dont know how to create there own website
If using Adwords to market your Clickbank products all you have to do is put your hoplink in the redirect URL so your customers go through to the sales pitch page with your affiliate info... the display URL can be whatever as far as i know... But as stated before a landing page is better and alot cheaper than Adwords.
