Can someone explain to me why a keyword that is suppose to pay like $30-$40 per click on pays like .85 cents, I have very tight focus on the subject and recieved .85 per click whats the deal? How does it really work ?

The answer to your question can be quite complicated. There are many factors such as smart pricing, the volume of ads for that specific keyword, the specific ad that was clicked, etc. There are ways to double, triple your EPC which are outlined in my newsletter.

Part of the answer is that the guys who may be paying $30 -$40 per click are not allowing their ads to be displayed in AdSense. This is because historically the conversion rate from AdSense clickers is terrible compared to AdWord clickers. So if you are going to pay the big bucks you don't want your ads displayed on AdSense.

Now no matter how much the top bidders are bidding there will always be bottom feeders who are only bidding some relatively small amount per click. These are likely the ads that are being displayed in the AdSense ads on your page and hence you only get $.85.

Yeah, I think the main reason is that most of the high CPC ads are displayed via the Search network only, not the content network.

On one of my new sites that currently gets zero traffic, I still have adsense on there and have been examining the ads that show up.

Then I went to Overture bid amount tool to see which urls were paying the highest $$ per click.

I think the highest was around mid twenties or so..

During the time that I was refreshing my site to see which adsense ads showed up, many times I did see that highest paying URL according to overture.. but unfortunately I could not click on the ad myself to see how much it pays out...

The max for adwords is $50, while overture max is $100. Assuming google takes %40, the max EPC is about $30, which I have seen happen on occasion albiet it is very rare. I get many $5-12 clicks though.

I don't think you can make the 40% assumption. I believe it depends on how many click throughs you have. My total impressions per day is less than 500 and my CTR is 3.6%. Any time I've lookedat my EPC it appears to be much closer to 50% than to 60%.
