Any testing out the new AdWords Campaign Optimizer tool yet? If so what do you think of it's recomendations? See: http://www.ppcblog.co.uk/google-adwords/google-tests-adwords-campaign-optimizer-tool/ and http://www.seroundtable.com/archives/014025.html
I walked through it with one of my campaigns and thought it was OK. I really like the step-by-step process Google walks you through when making decisions. I'm not so certain about some of their recommendations but I am testing those now to see if they work for me. If they do improve my ROI then I'll really be impressed, but I can't help but think they can't be applied to everyone. I think it could really be helpful for new pay per click advertisers.
Never looked at it, and I don't intend to... Don't really see what it's going to do that I don't do already. I doubt it'll take into account the conversion rate (and hence cost per conversion), it doesn't know the value of a conversion to you and it can't tell you which advert is more effective (in terms of ctr and conv. rate). Better to manage the account yourself...
I gave it a go, but not with much success - on a keyword content targeted campaign it recommended that I add the www. on the display url on my text ad and capitalise the name of my domain - I've no idea if that makes any difference - I dropped the www. because it makes that line too long in my view. I tried it on a search group and got the message "Your campaign exceeds the limit of keywords and Ad Groups that the Campaign Optimiser can accommodate at this time." That campaign has a lot of adgroups so I can have different text ads for all the keywords *shrugs*
I think you are thinking of the "Ad Serving" optimization setting at the campaign level. We are discussing the actual campaign optimizer.
