Adwords and Wordtracker

This is my first post at this forum so I would like to say hello to all of you.
I’ve been on this forum for a while mainly reading and educating my self and I have to say this is an excellent place to learn. Thank you.

I work for a small pharmaceutical and dietetic company, producing Herbal remedies and dietetic products in Republic of Macedonia.
Just recently we have decided to advertise one of our products online so I start learning ad words as a quick way to bring traffic to the site.
After reading a couple of books reading this forum also I’ve started my first campaign a month ago.
I’ve subscribed to wordtracker and I’ve found about 300 related keywords which all together have about 1500 searches a day according to wordtracker.
I’ve created one campaign with 18 ad groups putting all related keywords in the proper ad group. For every ad group I have different ad matching very close the keywords in the ad group.

Two of the ad groups are much related to the product so I set the Max CPC for those groups high enough so I can be in the 1-3 position. My daily budget is also high enough so I can handle about 200 clicks a day.

After I stared the campaign I was constantly in the 1-3 position (for those 2 ad groups) even my ads ware shown at the top of the search results.
For those ad groups I have more then 6% CTR.

    What’s the problem then?

The problem is in the number of impressions.
According to the wordtracker for all keywords in those 2 ad groups there are about 450 searches a day and I have only about 45 impressions a day.

    My campaign settings are:

    Show my ads on:
    - Google search
    - Search network
    Target Audience:English
    Locations: All Countries and Territories

The second problem that I face now is the number of clicks that I get is not corresponding to the number of visits on the website. We get only about 60% of all clicks.
If we have 10 clicks only 6 people will come to the site.
I thought the problem is in the web hosting company so we switched to another one which is much better.
Unfortunately the result is the same.
Again only 6 people out of 10 are coming to our site.
For stats tracking we use google analytics.

    Can you advise something please?

    Regards,
    Toni.

    ToniM,

Wordtracker just provides estimates as to the number of searches conducted, nothing more. I always tell people to use estimation tools to get an idea of the overall popularity of a keyword, not as a gauge as to how much traffic one should expect.

As far as the numbers not matching up (AdWords compared to analytics) that's not unusual. There are so many variables that could come into play (I've seem the timezone associated with various reporting systems throw the numbers off) I won't try and offer a solution here...instead I would advise that if you feel the numbers are off significantly and want to chase things down contact Google and start the process with them.

It seems like you planned your first campaign very well with targeted ad groups and a long keyword list from wordtracker. It pays of because 6% CTR is very good, especially for a beginner. Congratulations.

If you want more clicks you can turn on the content network. The CTR will probably go down but impressions from the content network is not counted by Google when they set your CPC so don't worry about that..

Regarding your missing clicks i suggest you arm yourself with really good evidence (log files) and contact Google in a nice way telling them you are concerned that you get clicks but no visitors.
