I set up my first Adwords campaign with a Clickbank product I've been promoting last week. The ad was approved and was runningfine. I got lots of impressions and quite a few clicks but made no sales (a common problem since the economy tanked, I guess). Everything was running fine until yesterday afternoon when my quality score dipped to 1 and 2 for all of the keywords I was using. The ad stopped running for those keywords. The explanation was that the keywords of the site didn't match my ad. However, to get my keywords I used the Adwords keyword tool and punched in the URL of the site I was promoting, so I know all of the keywords appeared on the site and the highest searched ones were used in my ad. I had bought a .info URL to use as a redirect (mostly for the article directories), and that is the one I used in the Adwords ad (not the display URL, but the destination URL). Could that have something to do with it? My questions are: Why did this happen? and: Should I use the Clickbank hoplink as the destination URL or should I use my .info redirect domain? Can anyone help?
In the ultra-competitive affiliate marketing landscape, it’s a good idea to always be on the lookout for new and innovative ways to promote products. Somewhat ironically, a great new space for affiliate promotions is actually an advertising medium that’s been around a long time
Never redirect a Google Adwords ad. Point it directly to your Clickbank site. If you get little or no sales but a lot of traffic you must do a keyword reasearch and dig into the website analysis. Either you are targeting the wrong keywords or you are having a "bad" call call to action on your landing page! Focus on the long tail keywords. This is cheaper and has better conversion rates. Good luck!
