I am thinking about using adwords to advertise my site www.chattennis.com. I want to use adwords in order to gain some more members. How should I go about making the ad, pricing, and what url should the ad point to? Any help would be much appreciated.

Price - the higher you set it the higher you get so the more clicks you get, so depends on your budget and how much you'll need to spend to get your desired position for your keywords (a little experimenting will be needed), the url normally points to your site and if you want to track conversions then you can install Adwords Conversion Tracking :D

This how I wrote up my campaign. Used a keyword research tool like word tracker or overture tool to find the right keywords that were being searched. Also checkout your competition and see what they are bidding on. Then simply gather your ideas on what you want to market about and who your target audience is and simply write the heading. It does not need to be perfect but with testing you can perfect the heading and all later. Also checkout Perry Marshall's book on Google Adwords. Great tips there. Good luck :)..hope these tips help.

PS: Try to shoot for the 3 or 4th spots and bid accordingly. These spots based on my experience do get a fair amount of clicks at a fair price.

Actually this all depends on what keywords you select. You will want to stay away from broad keywords as much as possible because they are expensive and don't bring you very targetted traffic. For example "tennis" is way too broad, but "get top tennis advice" is more targetted and you are going to get the type of visitors you are looking for. This will keep your costs down and these visitors will convert better than with the broad keywords.

    Hope this helps some.

    Hi Tennisplayer89,

The first thing that you should do, is ask your self what are you trying to acomplish from using PPC for your website. Next is to build your keyword list, then grouping your keyword list, write your copy for each ad group, bid accordingly and choose the correct landing page. There is a lot more to do if you are interested in me helping you check out my service in the buy and sell section of DP.

    Cheers,

I've used AdWords in the past to build membership. It takes some practice and testing (just like any other form of marketing) but it's doable.

I agree with this and not to mention serious testing. You will have to probably waste some $$$ but avoid the learning curve by doing strong research :)

It's good to hear that others have built membership using it. Thanks for the help. Should I have my ads shown for search, conent, or both?

Setup your ad for search. You get good results that way. Thanks
