I started a new webmaster forum begin january and i was wondering if it would be a good idea to bring in some extra traffic/members via google adwords. Is this a good idea to bring in new members this way? Or do you suggest to get my traffic elsewhere (via banner advertising for example, etc.). Hoping to get some advice from people who tried promoting their forum via adwords... Thx!
I know that adwords is very exspensive for what u get. I would make sure u have at least 10 new posts a day so ur community looks active when some1 sees it
I think there must be a reasonable amount of posts/members already on the forum, otherwise I believe visitors will not join the forum and it will be a waste of money.
You aren't really going to be able to get a substantial number of webmasters to join through any sort of advertising. It's a pretty tech-savvy industry that are mostly immune to clicking on ads. The way to get traffic is to truly give people something unique that they can't get anywhere else.
I assume you realize how many zillion webmaster forums that there already are: http://www.theforumfinder.org/computers/internet/web-design/ (probably around 400!!)
eheh.. another webmaster forum. Don't waste your money my friend. You'd be more in luck doing a farmville or any other forum related to big facebook games since those are the ones more willing to click on ads for anything that shows on their screens.
