Hi All We are now looking to setup our first adwords account, does have anyone have any tips or recommendations on things to watch out for?
I second smile633's words. The only thing jumping into Adwords without learning A LOT on the subject will do is get you bankrupt - that's how easy it is. Adwords can be a VERY profitable source of traffic if you know what you're doing but in my opinion (and I don't think I'm very far off) 98% of Adsense advertisers are not making any profit, simply because they are too ignorant to learn the strategies.
I don't know about your percentage but agree with you. Too many jump into PPC with wrong/bad ideas not educating themselves. For those who do, it can be profitable.
When you go to adwords remember ONE word in making your campaign..RELEVANCE.. Adwords will reward you by letting you pay lvery ittle for every click you get.(which ultimately transform to sales) . but you will pay dearly if you dont follow this simple rule.. In other word let your keywords, your ads and your landing page cohessive as possible.
See google results and study the competitors. And of course less forums and reading and more practice
