"Your ad shares a similar Display URL with a competing, higher ranking ad."

above is from adword. my ad is not active because of this.
    my landing page: www.keyword.com
    my competitor'page: keyword.domain.com

Can I just put www.whatever.com as display URL or I have to increase bid to beat my competitor.

    any suggestion?

Dont get into the bidding war, its better if you change the display URL, but keep the display URL similar/related to your ad. Display URL can affect your CTR so keep that in mind while choosing another URL.

Choosing www..whatever.com can affect your CTR....hope you got my point

    thanks, guys!

I just modified the display URL to a different one, but it asked more bid to show up in first page.

There is only one ad in first page, why can't I just show up in second position. Their policy really confused me.

It may be due to your Quality Score....even if there is not a single ad if your Quality Score is poor then it'll ask for higher min. bid.
You can enable your quality score & check it for all keywords.
